Hey there, hey!

My name is Kunbi. I am 42 years old (turning 43 this year, 2023) and I am perimenopausal. It’s not a journey I expected to start this early and definitely not in the way it started – it knocked me for six and turned my life upside down! But, here we surely are!

About a month after I knew for certain that I was on my perimenopause journey, I knew I had to talk about it on social media so that every woman who came across my posts would read about it. Why? Because this journey is one we ALL need to know more about and so that no woman will be caught unawares by how intense this journey can be. When I realised that an instagram or facebook post just won’t do, I knew I had to start a blog/virtual diary as I have decided to call it as this is where I plan on logging/sharing my experience and all I am learning along the way.

So, welcome to my virtual perimenopause diary. I do have to say that each woman is different and we will experience perimenopause in our own unique way. Some women may not notice they are going through it at all and will jump right into menopause and then post menopause. Some may experience mild symptoms that may not impact their day to day lives or require one form of intervention or another. Some will be impacted significantly by it and may require intervention. Whichever category we each fall into, this experience is another rite of passage in our lives. It is one that more and more women are starting to talk about, yet there aren’t still enough! I know this because in desperation, I went looking and I didn’t find a lot of personal stories until I joined some perimenopause and menopause private groups on Facebook. It is another reason why I am doing this. My hope is that if you find your way here somehow, some way, you can rest assured that you are not alone.

I am still very much at the start of my journey, learning more and more about my body, finding out about things that work for me/things that help me, learning how to best look after myself and my health while navigating the waves of perimenopause.

Do leave a comment and share any posts, that resonate, with friends, colleagues, family, etc. If you’ve got any questions, please feel free to ask and I will my best to answer or find out an answer for you 🙂

Cheers,

Kunbi x
